How to crochet the Crunch Stitch

How to crochet the Crunch Stitch

I have been doing crochet a long time, but have been serious to do it on Etsy since 2014.  Even though I know how to crochet, I love to learn new stitches.  I have learned so much from Craftsy online classes.  This crunch stitch I learned from Beth Graham.  She is fantastic for teaching new stitches, for textured crochet.  The name of the class I took from her is called Fun & Fantastic Textured Crochet Stitches.

Materials:

Abbreviations:

CH – chain

SLST – slip stitch

HDC – half double crochet

Pattern Note:

  • Crunch stitch uses a combination of HDC and SLST. If you don’t do the SLST properly, it will be too tight.  If you crochet tight, you may want to upsize your hook to J[6mm]
  • This pattern is written in American crochet terms.

Foundation:

Chain in multiples of 2 (+1 for foundation chain)

Pattern:

ROW 1: 1 SLST in third CH from hook (2 skipped CHs count as first HDC), *1 HDC in next CH, 1 SLST in next CH * – repeat across. Turn your work.

ROW 2: CH 2 (counts as first hdc), 1 SLST in next HDC, *1 hdc in next SLST, 1 SLST in next HDC* – repeat across. Turn your work.

Repeat Row 2 until you have reached your desired length.

Sorry for the video quality, I am new at it.  I promise I will make it better.
