Dream Travel Destinations

Dream Travel Destinations

Almost everyone I know loves to travel.  I know I do, and so does my family.  That’s why we have a travel website.  I’ve traveled right across Asia and North America, but I still have a bucket list of places I want to travel.  Some you’ve heard of, and some you might not have heard of.  So, let’s get started.

Cambodia

Cambodia has been on my buckAet list of places to travel since 2004.  It’s right next door to my birth country of Thailand, but I’ve never found the time to get there.  However, there are a few places in Cambodia that have catapulted it to the top of my list of dream travel destinations.

Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is a given.  It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the World, and is also the largest religious monument in the World.  Steeped in history and mystique, Angkor Wat would be the highlight of any trip to that region.

The Killing Fields

A trip to Cambodia wouldn’t be complete if you didn’t visit the Killing Fields.  Over a million people were killed in Cambodia between 1975 to 1979 and marks a very dark time in the countries history.  It can be found in Choeung Ek, just about 8 kilometers South of Phnom Penh.

Laos

Maybe one of the lesser known countries is South East Asia, Laos is a gem of a country and has only recently been touted as a tourist destination.  However, it has some places that shouldn’t be missed.  Let’s take a quick look at some of the reasons this makes my list as a dream travel destination.

Plain of Jars

Located near the town of Phonsavan, the Plain of Jars is still somewhat a mystery to archaeologists.  There you will find, if you care to visit, fields of huge jars made of stone.  Worth a quick trip to see, if you’re in the area.

Vang Vieng

At just 4 hours from the Capital City, Vang Vieng has lots of stunning beauty and scenery to behold, but tourists mostly visit for the party.  To sum it up for you quickly, it’s a huge river party, where you rent an inner tube, float lazily down the river, and visit bars that have set up along the river.  A haven for partying backpackers.

So, there you have it.  This is my dream travel destination list.  If you know anything about South East Asia, all these destinations are quite close together, and can be all taken in on one excellent dream vacation.

Other possible travel destinations to see when travelling to South East Asia would be Thailand, the jewel of the orient.  Burma, which is slowly opening its doors to tourism the last few years.  As well as Vietnam and Malaysia.  I had a friend that rented a motorcycle and travelled to all these countries and locations in a few weeks.  It would make for a great vacation for a younger person, but I’m not as daring as I use to be.

So, there it is, my dream travel destinations.  Just a quick trip from where I was born.  When I plan my next trip back to Thailand, I will guarantee to have stories to share with you about these places too.  After all, the Orient is one of the most interesting places to explore in the World.
